We've been testing mesh WiFi systems for years now, and the market has finally matured to the point where there are genuinely great options at every price point. Gone are the days when you had to spend $700 to get reliable whole-home coverage.
That said, not every mesh system is created equal. Some are overpriced for what they deliver, some have terrible apps, and some just don't hold up when you've got 40+ devices hammering the network. Here's what actually works in 2026.
How We Test
We test every system in a real 2,800 sq ft home with multiple floors, thick walls, and a backyard that needs coverage. We measure throughput at various distances, test with 30+ connected devices, check latency for gaming, and live with each system for at least two weeks. We also factor in the app experience, because a powerful router with a terrible app is still a terrible experience.

If you've got a big house — we're talking 4,000+ sq ft — the Orbi 960 is the system to beat. It's a quad-band WiFi 6E powerhouse with a dedicated backhaul channel that keeps your mesh network running at full speed even when every room is streaming 4K.
Raw throughput is the best we've tested. The Orbi consistently delivered 800+ Mbps at close range and maintained 300+ Mbps even two floors away. The 10 Gbps WAN port is future-proof for multi-gig internet plans.
The downsides: it's expensive, the units are large (they look like small vases), and the Orbi app, while improved, still isn't as polished as Eero's. But for sheer coverage and speed, nothing else comes close.

Performance sits right between the Eero Pro 6E and the Nest WiFi Pro. Coverage is excellent for homes up to 5,500 sq ft (with the 3-pack), and the Deco app is clean and easy to use. TP-Link also includes HomeCare security features for free — no subscription required.
It's not as polished as the Eero ecosystem, and the units are a bit larger than we'd like. But dollar for dollar, this is the best mesh system you can buy right now.

Asus ZenWiFi ET8 (2-Pack)
Gamers need low latency more than raw throughput, and the ZenWiFi ET8 delivers. Asus's adaptive QoS prioritizes gaming traffic automatically, and the dedicated 6 GHz backhaul keeps your mesh link from competing with your gaming devices.
The AiMesh system also gives you way more control than most mesh systems — VPN support, custom DNS, traffic analysis, and even AiProtection Pro security (powered by Trend Micro, free for life). If you're the kind of person who wants to actually configure your network, this is your system.

Under $200 for a 3-pack mesh system with WiFi 6, and it actually works well? That's the Deco X55. It's a dual-band system, so you won't get the dedicated backhaul of pricier options, but for most households with standard internet speeds (under 500 Mbps), you won't notice the difference.
Coverage is rated at 6,500 sq ft for the 3-pack, and in our testing it reliably covered a 2,800 sq ft home with strong signal everywhere. The same Deco app and free HomeCare features apply here too.
If your internet plan is under 500 Mbps and you don't need WiFi 6E, this is the smart buy.

7. Linksys Velop MX5500 — Honorable Mention
Linksys Velop MX5500 (3-Pack)
The Velop MX5500 is a solid WiFi 6 tri-band system that does everything competently but nothing exceptionally. It's reliable, covers large homes well, and the Linksys app is decent. But at this price point, the Deco XE75 offers WiFi 6E for less money, and the Eero Pro 6E offers a better overall experience for a bit more.
We'd recommend the Velop if you find it on sale or if you're already in the Linksys ecosystem. Otherwise, the competition has passed it by.

For most people, the Eero Pro 6E is the mesh system to buy. It's the best combination of performance, simplicity, and reliability. If you're on a budget, the TP-Link Deco X55 is a steal. And if you've got a mansion to cover, the Netgear Orbi 960 is worth the investment.
